Sophia Davis is a senior Political Science student at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is from New Orleans but has been residing in Lafayette since 2006, having moved here after Hurricane Katrina. She was in the L.J. Alleman Middle School Arts Academy theatre department and followed up at Lafayette High School with involvement in Talented Theatre, choir, and Environmental Club. After graduating with honors from Lafayette High, Sophia decided to attend UL for political science with a focus on International Relations and a minor in history. Additionally, at UL, she is involved in the Honors Program and the National Political Science Honors Society, Pi Sigma Alpha. After graduating from UL next year, she plans to further her education and pursue a Masters in Public Administration with a focus on nonprofit management. Sophia has a deep interest in community development and environmental policy and hopes to use her enthusiasm for these topics to positively influence the lives of many through public service and nonprofit work.
After hearing that Sarah Roy was running for city council, Sophia knew she needed to be involved in her campaign. With Sarah’s thorough engagement within the Lafayette community, her focus on the arts, community development, and education, Sophia realized she has many of the same hopes for the success of District One and Lafayette as a whole.
